If you can imagine the old nursery rhyme “The Owl & the Pussycat Went to Sea” they would have returned home from the honeymoon with an Exotic kitten. They are also known as the Teddy Bears of the cat world. The exotic breed is known for its sweet temperament and soft voice. They possess a wonderful disposition yet alert, playful and responsive. They are extremely loyal and loving, blessed with a gorgeous coat that is much easier to look after than the Persian. It is a healthy and long-lived breed. They are playful but not destructive. If you like the docile nature of the Persian but dislike the grooming then this may be the cat for you.
The Exotic is very heavily boned, well balanced, the legs are low, short, thick and stocky, broad and deep through the chest and equally massive across the shoulders and rump. The head is round and massive, and set on a short, thick neck. The nose is short with a break between the eyes. It has full cheeks and broad and powerful jaws. The eyes are very large, round and set level and far apart. The ears are small and round and set low on the head. The tail is short. The coat is rich and dense and has a very thick undercoat. They come in all colours and patterns.
